At Scotbeef, we produce high-quality innovative primary and value added red meat products to the UK retail sector, foodservice, and export markets.

We are a family-owned business with more than 100 years of experience in supplying high-quality meat products. Our company was founded in 1920 and is now run by the 4th generation of the Galloway family.

We have an exciting opportunity for a NPD Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Scotbeef East Kilbride.

The main function for this role is to work in our brand new development kitchen supporting the NPD team to trial and launch new product ranges to customer specification.

Main responsibilities:

  • Take care of kitchen stock, storage, product availability and hygiene.
  • Perform product sample tests.
  • Monitor, rotate and replenish raw material stock.
  • Ensure all integrity tests are completed on all finished products.
  • Collaborate with our NPD/Technical department to ensure products meet customer specification.
  • Drive the hygiene standards of the development Kitchen, including cleaning of crockery to equipment.
  • Liaise and work with the company’s internal stores and if necessary make/procure goods from local stores.
  • Comply fully with all legislative and company HSE, Food Safety and Hygiene requirements.

Skills required:

  • Previous experience working in a fast paced kitchen environment.
  • Experience in a food production environment, preferably meat standards.
  • Organised and attentive to detail.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervisor.
  • Strong communication at all levels within the business.
  • Accreditation Food Hygiene equivalent at minimum level 2 or willing to work towards.
  • Speaking, writing and understanding excellent spoken and written English language. (This is an essential health & safety, traceability, management and quality control requirement which will be tested as part of the recruitment process).
  • Good numeracy skills.
